On Tuesday, December 9 the winner of the 2009 Ford C. Frick award will be announced. For the second year in a row, Joe Nuxhall won the online balloting. We’ll see soon if the selection committee agrees.

Lepolt coded up a new plugin for Wordpress which lets you integrate Picasa Web albums with your blog. It’s not too bad–I’ll add it and have a longer review later, but in the mean time you can download it here.

Kevin: This has to be my most favorite Facebook group name of all time: “IF 10 MILLION JOIN MARC ZOMBERG WILL BRING BACK THE OLD FACEBOOK!”
John: lol
Kevin: Don’t laugh too much, your sister joined it.
John: haha
Kevin: Further down my news feed: “Christopher Welch joined the group The Founder of Facebook is MARK ZUCKERBERG, you dumb shits. ”
My siblings: 1. Your siblings: 0

From GreenBiz.com:
“Marker’s Mark has turned on a new treatment system at its Loretto, Ky., distillery, turning waste into energy for the facility.
The anaerobic digestion facility installed by waste management provider Ecovation will process stillage - the water, grain and yeast waste leftover from making bourbon - and produce a methane and carbon dioxide biogas for use in the distillery’s boilers.”

For the few of you who haven’t heard yet I got an iPhone yesterday. I’m actually typing this up on the phone right now. I made a pretty quick adjustment to the on-screen keyboard (which obviously is much easier to use sideways in Safari.) So far, so good on AT&T’s part but I am sure that won’t always be the case. I will keep my many loyal readers up-to-date as the situation develops.

“[T]he children of my generation understood that these young Americans, 20 years old, were true heroes to whom they owed the fact that they were free people and not slaves. France will never forget the sacrifice of your children.”
Hat tip: The Corner. And video.

So apparently “The Sports Guy” copied off me: “YouTube Hall of Fame”

Websites such as Google Video and YouTube have revolutionized finding videos on the Internet. In days of yore when hunting down a funny video on the Internet, one had to brave the wilds of search engines or P2P networks. Kids today have it much easier. I figured there was no better way to re-christen this blog than by providing links to a few of my favorite hilarious Internet videos.
- Any time William Shatner sings the world listens, but we’d all be better off without this video’s existence. This video is at least a 95 on the Unintentional Comedy Ratings. A little background: For the 1978 Science Fiction Film Awards, host William Shatner gave his own dramatic interpretation of the Elton John-Bernie Taupin classic Rocket Man. The song was later parodied by Stewie Griffin on The Family Guy. Anyway, here’s Captain James T. Kirk singing the 1972 hit, Rocketman.
- In the 1970s a large whale washed up on the beach in Oregon. Realizing they had to do something before the giant animal’s carcass began to rot, the Oregon Highway Department decided the best disposal method was dynamite. No, really. As you might expect, things did not go the way they’d hoped. The Great Exploding Oregonian Whale.
- What is it about former Star Trek actors singing? I don’t know, but it’s always guaranteed to cause a laugh. Here’s Leonard Nimoy’s Ballad of Bilboy Baggins.
- Of all these videos, this last one maybe my favorite. I have no words to describe it other than “Get out of the car or I am going to taze you!”
