So apparently “The Sports Guy” copied off me:  “YouTube Hall of Fame”

Websites such as Google Video and YouTube have revolutionized finding videos on the Internet. In days of yore when hunting down a funny video on the Internet, one had to brave the wilds of search engines or P2P networks. Kids today have it much easier. I figured there was no better way to re-christen this blog than by providing links to a few of my favorite hilarious Internet videos.

  • Any time William Shatner sings the world listens, but we’d all be better off without this video’s existence. This video is at least a 95 on the Unintentional Comedy Ratings. A little background: For the 1978 Science Fiction Film Awards, host William Shatner gave his own dramatic interpretation of the Elton John-Bernie Taupin classic Rocket Man. The song was later parodied by Stewie Griffin on The Family Guy. Anyway, here’s Captain James T. Kirk singing the 1972 hit, Rocketman.
  • In the 1970s a large whale washed up on the beach in Oregon. Realizing they had to do something before the giant animal’s carcass began to rot, the Oregon Highway Department decided the best disposal method was dynamite. No, really. As you might expect, things did not go the way they’d hoped. The Great Exploding Oregonian Whale.
  • What is it about former Star Trek actors singing? I don’t know, but it’s always guaranteed to cause a laugh. Here’s Leonard Nimoy’s Ballad of Bilboy Baggins.
  • Of all these videos, this last one maybe my favorite. I have no words to describe it other than “Get out of the car or I am going to taze you!”

Some of you might remember the last incarnation of GINORMOUS.ORG. Hopefully this time, things will turn out better for the little blog that could. In the days and weeks to come this space will be filled with the most spectacular Internet content you can possibly imagine. Check back daily. Better yet, check several times each day. In fact, never leave this website.
